Best Places For Camping Near Nashville, TN (17 Ideas)

There are many great places for camping near Nashville. I compiled a list of camping locations all within about an hour of the Nashville, Tennessee area for anyone visiting and looking for a good place to pitch a tent or park their RV for the night. Or maybe you already live in Tennessee and are just looking for some new camping ideas. Either way, if you know of any good ones that I missed please add it in the comments below!

Best locations for camping near Nashville

1. Nashville KOA Resort

If you’re familiar with camping at all I’m sure you’ve heard of KOA. It’s what it says it is, a big camping resort. There is also a North KOA and East KOA in the greater Nashville area. They aren’t clear about fees or their camping season so you may have to call to find out more. They have tons of activities and amenities for every type of camper here.

2. Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Nashville

Similar to KOA, Jellystone is a nationwide campground targeted at families and groups. You’ll find all the amenities you can think of, 233 pull thru campsites, 10 No Hookup Tent Sites (one of which is a group site), 5 Water and Electric Tent Sites and 19 Rental Cabins (one of which is handicap accessible), playgrounds, swimming, and other kids activities.

3. Grand Ole RV Resort and Market

Located north of Nashville in Goodlettsville, Grand Ole RV Resort has 107 RV campsites. This large RV campground is family owned and offers live music at night, fun activities for the kids, fishing, clean showers and restrooms, and a general store.

4. Safe Harbor RV Resort

Safe Harbor is a marina and RV resort and is located on the northwest side of Percy Priest Lake. They do not state how many RV’s they can accommodate but they take RVs up to 50-feet in length and all sites are 22 foot wide, level concrete pads, full hook-up, with options for 30 & 50 amp at each site.

5. Nashville I-24 Campground

Nashville I-24 Campground is located in Smyrna, Tennessee which is just a little bit north of Murfreesboro. They offer 100 camping sites, 30 & 50 amp full service hookups, 3 cabins, clean facilities, free wifi, swimming, a convenience store, and more.

6. Two Rivers Campground

Two Rivers Campground is in northeast Nashville located between the bend in the Cumberland River. From what I can gather this is an RV campground only. They offer both 30 and 50 amp hookups and amenities such as a swimming pool, free wifi, a gameroom, free shuttles to downtown, and a clean bathhouse.

7. Music City Campground

There is no official website or Facebook page that I can find but they are located in Lavergne, Tennessee. They have 67 campsites, RV only no tents, year round, toilets, pet friendly, and free wifi. They have the basics but I would do a little research before booking as I saw some less than stellar reviews for this one.

8. Cedar Creek Campground

Cedar Creek Campground is located on Old Hickory Lake in northeast of Nashville and directly north of Mt. Juliet Tennessee. They offer 60 campsites, laundry facilities, water and electric hookups, swimming, fishing, other lake related activities, as well as a bathhouse.

9. Henry Horton State Park

Henry Horton State Park is located just about 50 miles directly south of Nashville in Chapel Hill, Tennessee. There are 8 cabins for rent, 56 RV campsites, 10 tent campsites, 9 primitive campsites, 3 backcountry campsites and 3 group campsites available. The park itself is beautiful and has hiking, fishing, and swimming.

10. Cedars of Lebanon State Park

Located just south of Lebanon Tennessee, The Cedars of Lebanon is a beautiful state park that has RV camping, tent camping, and cabin rentals. They have a total of 87 campsites, electric and water hookups, along with some beautiful scenery and nature trails for hiking.

11. Bledsoe Creek State Park

Bledsoe Creek has 57 level and paved campsites that are 65 ft in length and 25 ft wide.  43 of the campsites have 50/30 amp service, and 14 have 30 amp service available. In addition there are 8 primitive campsites that have views of the lake.

12. Long Hunter State Park

Long Hunter State Park, located on the eastern side of Percy Priest Lake, offers group camping with access to water and restrooms nearby as well as 2 backcountry campsites used for tent camping. It’s a 6 mile hike to both of the backcountry sites, which are open year round and can accommodate 8-10 people.

13. Montgomery Bell State Park

Montgomery Bell is a beautiful state park about 45 minutes west of Nashville with several camping options. The campgrounds can get very crowded here, especially on the weekends but Montgomery Bell has a total of 94 campsites 40 of which have sewer hookups. There is an overnight trail where backcountry camping is allowed with a permit.

14. Old Stone Fort Archaeological Park

Just about an hour from Nashville, Old Stone Fort Archaeological Park offers 51 campsites with water and electrical hookups, grills, picnic tables and hard-surface pads that can accommodate RVs up to 50 feet in length. In addition to camping you’ll find fishing, swimming, and around 5 miles worth of hiking trails many of which have waterfalls.

15. Edgar Evans State Park

Edgar Evans State Park is right on the beautiful Center Hill Lake about an hour east of Nashville. There are 60 campsites for tent or trailer camping, most of which can accommodate RVs of about 33′ with a few up to 40′. Only about 20 of the campsites and one bath house are open year round.

16. Bledsoe Creek State Park

Bledsoe Creek has 57 paved and level campsites with grills and fire rings that are 25 ft by 65 ft. 43 have 50/30 amp service, and 14 have 30 amp service available. Water for each site and a dump station are available year-round. There are also 8 primitive waterfront sites with beautiful views of the lake. The park has 5 hiking trails and offers fishing and boating.

17. Percy Priest Lake Camping

Percy Priest is a beautiful lake east of Nashville that has many camping opportunities on or close to its shores. Below are the 3 main campgrounds listed on the official website, there are other privately owned campgrounds in the area as well. There is also a fourth camping option for those that are more adventurous.

Anderson Road Campground

Anderson Road Campground is located east of Nashville right on Percy Priest Lake. It has 10 RV campsites and 26 primitive campsites. There are restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities onsite. In addition there are many other things to do at the Percy Priest Lake area.

Poole Knobs Campground

Poole Knobs Campground, at Percy Priest Lake, has 88 campsites and all the amenities you would expect of a good campground. As well as everything that comes with camping near a lake like fishing and boating.

Seven Points Campground

Seven Points Campground is located just east of Nashville on the northern end of Percy Priest Lake. They have 59 campsites, a bathhouse with showers and toilets, swimming, fishing, hiking, large picnic shelters, as well as canoeing and kayaking.

Primitive Camping on the Islands of Percy Priest Lake

Percy Priest Lake has around 38 islands. 22 of these islands have names and camping is allowed on 11 of those. The islands that you can camp on will have white posts with tent symbols on them. Camping is first come first serve and there are no fees or reservations needed. Collect your firewood on the island and do not bring outside wood to burn.
